In the early part of the twentieth century, as traditional communities in Philadelphia that had been swallowed up by Consolation Act of 1854 grew more dense, an era known as Northeast Philadelphia came into its own. The authors and residents of Northeast Philadelphia worked together with the Historical Society of Tacony to produce this history of the lower half of Northeast Philadelphia.
