DESCRIPTION:
My client has some nice Royal Doulton toby/character jugs to sell. I have many to list, so keep watching.
This listing is for a Royal Doulton character large jug: Beefeater, D6206 Variation 3 (Pink w/ ER incised), large size. Issued 1953-1987. The figurine is in excellent stored condition and measures 6 1/3" H. "Beefeater & ER" is written in the mold on the back, see pictures. There are NO chips, cracks, nicks or crazing. There are black paint marks on the handle from manufacture and minor scuffs on the bottom. The box is NOT included.
ABOUT BEEFEATER:
The Yeoman of the Guard and warders of the Tower of London are colloquially referred to as Beefeaters. The name "beefeater" came from a visiting Grand Duke who was astonished by the large amounts of beef eaten by the Yeoman Guards. The monarch's initials are on the handle. The first variation was "GR" for George Rex (King George VI) and this variation is ER for Elizabeth Regina (Queen Elizabeth II).
