DESCRIPTION:
This listing is for a Royal Doulton character large jug: Rip Van Winkle D6438 Variation 1 (grey/blue cap, brown robes, figure dressed in blue resting on tree). Issued 1955-1995. The figurine is in excellent stored condition and measures 6 1/2" H. "Rip Van Winkle is incised in the mold on the back, see pictures. There are NO chips, cracks, nicks or crazing. The box is NOT included.
ABOUT RIP VAN WINKLE:
In 1820, the American writer Washington Irving wrote the story of Rip Van Winkle, based on legends he had heard from Dutch settlers. While walking in the Catskill Mountains of New York, Rip drinks fairy potion, falls asleep for 20 years and wakes to find an unrecognizable world.
