DESCRIPTION:
This listing is for a Royal Doulton character SMALL jug: Dick Turpin D6535. It was issued 1960-1981. The figurine is in very good stored condition and measures 3 3/4" H. There is a slight nick, see pictures. The box is NOT included.
ABOUT DICK TURPIN:
An English highwayman whose exploits were romanticized following his execution in York for horse theft. In the early 1730's he had joined a gang of deer thieves and later became a poacher, burglar, horse thief and killer. He is known for a fictional 200 mile overnight ride from London to York on his horse Black Bess. Novelist William Ainsworth made his story famous almost a 100 years after Turpin's death.
